House Passes Ban on Campaigns Paying Kin
It looks like Julie Doolittle, wife of Congressman John Doolittle (R-Roseville, Calif.), is out of a client.
The Washington Post reports today that the House of Representatives passed legislation that bans campaigns from employing family members. This is on the heels of a report produced by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) that found over 100 members of Congress had previously done so.
Former Congressman Richard Pombo (R-Tracy, Calif.), named one of the thirteen most corrupt members of Congress by CREW in 2005, was also notorious for having his wife, Annette, and his brother, Randy, on the campaign payroll to the tune of over $400,000.
