According to many of those who claim to be alarmed by this White House, Dick Cheney is the most powerful V.P. we've ever had... which would make Lynn Cheney something of a First Lady, would it not?

Yet her remarks on The Daily Show this week, which are at least as worthy of scrutiny as the oft-repeated remarks of, for instance, Barbara Bush in the wake of the Katrina debacle, have received a great deal less attention. Why?

Dick Cheney was described by President Jimmy Carter on BBC as a "disaster." Lynne Cheney, who appeared on The Daily Show to promote a book, appeared this morning on MSNBC where she said Carter was being "typical" in that he always makes outrageous remarks when he's promoting a book. Book promotion by Carter? BAD! Book promotion by Lynne Cheney? GOOD!
