“We Believe” versus “Fan Up”

In the NBA playoffs last year, the Golden State Warriors electrified the Bay Area with their run at the postseason and record-setting first round ousting of the top-seeded Dallas Mavericks.

The wave of energy behind the team was powered by “We Believe” generation of Warriors fans that did not have much to cheer for over a dozen years.

Watching the New Orleans Hornets host the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night, the team seemed to be attempting to replicate the “We Believe” energy down to the t-shirts. However, the crowd — while decked out in “Fan Up New Orleans” shirts — was quite sedated for much of the action despite the swing from point-deficit to advantage. It was only towards the end did the crowd really get into it despite a large lead throughout most of the fourth quarter and a 19-point victory.
