Sen. Kennedy Suffers Stroke, Hospitalized

Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D-Massachusetts) was rushed to a hospital on Cape Cod with “stroke like symptoms” before being airlifted to Boston this morning. A report in the Boston Globe confirmed that the second-longest serving senator suffered a stroke and that family members were “summoned” to the hospital.

More details are available from the Cape Cod Times.

Kennedy was first elected to the United States Senate in 1962 with 55 percent of the vote, and re-elected in 2006. He currently holds the Class 1 seat previously held by John Quincy Adams, both Henry Cabot Lodges and older brother, John F. Kennedy.

According to the Associated Press, Senator Kennedy suffered a seizure, which can be brought on by a stroke. Details are still emerging.

  1. Hopefully, he has a full recovery. It is no fun having a seizure.

At least, he’s in one of the best hospitals.
