Arizona Shuts Out Idaho, 70-0
Arizona Wildcats started their season off right with a 70-0 rout of the lowly Idaho Vandals in Tucson. The victory was the first shutout for the Wildcats in twelve years and their highest scoring game since their 74-0 output over Texas College of Mines and Metallurgy, the school that eventually became UTEP, in 1924.
Willie Tuitama and Nic Grigsby combined for 348 yards in one half to lead Arizona’s 70-0 rout of Idaho Saturday night in a rainy opener delayed an hour by lightning. [...]
Grigsby carried 19 times for 169 yards, including two short touchdown runs as the Wildcats set a school record with 49 first-half points. That surpassed the mark of 42 set in 1976 against UTEP and matched against Pacific in 1980.
Arizona had a 521-112 advantage in yards in its first shutout since 1996.
