Matthews Calls Out O’Beirne on Perjury Hypocrisy

Chris Matthews reamed Kate O’Beirne for her hypocrisy on the perjury issue from her staunch support of impeach of President Bill Clinton in 1998 and her cries of “injustice” when I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby was found guilty of perjury and obstruction of justice by a jury of his peers.

There is, however, a major difference between the Republican Congress pushing to remove Clinton from the highest office for lying about oral sex — lowering the bar for “high crimes and misdemeanors” — and Libby being found guilty by a jury.

Breaking news is that President Bush commuted the sentence of convicted felon, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney.

Shorter President Bush: “First-time offenders with years of public service should have their sentences commuted. Forget what a jury finds.”
